Losing weight is like taking piano lessons. The more you practice playing piano or any instrument for that matter, the better you become at it. If you don't practice, nothing happens. So, I've started walking to and from my son's school to pick him up instead of driving there. It takes about 30 minutes to get there and 45 to come back. The extra time coming back has to do with the fact that it's extremely hot right now and my son loves to rest under every shade we come across.
What I try to do is challenge myself going so that I don't waste my time walking for nothing. The other day I decided to walk in the grass instead of the sidewalk. I didn't mention this, but I push my four year old in a stroller, so walking on the grass is a pretty good challenge. The land is flat, so there's not much in the way of hills to make things versatile. That's why the grass is great.
However, now that I've been doing this for the past two weeks, I'm getting bored out of my mind. I've been trying to run and walk. I run a block then I walk three blocks. I found that I can't do too much running, especially not while pushing a stroller. It just feels too awkward.
Anyway, at least I'm moving in the right direction. Now if I could only curve my eating habits.
