About a year and a half ago I read a book that I quickly became crazy about. It's called Fit for Life. In that book I learned a lot about how the body behaves to the way we eat. One of the most profound aspects of the book was how to combine food to make it work more efficiently in your system (i.e. Don't eat meats and starches at the same time, but rather eat one or the other). This was not a lose weight quick diet book. It was a book that broke down why your body gains and loses weight so that you can understand clearly what you are doing to your body when you pop that pizza in your mouth or that glass of bear at the same time that you're just sitting there day after day without moving.
Well, although I learned so much from that book, I'm ashamed to admit that I stopped working on the principals I was taught and started gaining back weight that I lost so slowly it was almost painful. It is even more painful to know that I could have been much further along had I stuck with the plan.
At any rate, one of the main concepts of the book helped me realize how important it is to make sure you colon has been cleansed of impurities and toxins so that the body can receive foods more efficiently. I forgot about that until just recently when I decided to get back to where I stopped so that I can move forward. I encourage this process since it really worked for me. Find ways to do it naturally.
On the other hand, if you are a pill popping kind of person and would rather help yourself in that manner, be sure to check out the colon cleanse reviews on the internet or even in books and magazines. Shoot, go to your local library. Don't just take it from one source either. Really be sure that what you are going to put into your system won't cause results that will land you in the hospital. It happens, you know! Be careful.
I'll leave you with a quote about dieting:
"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life."
