Weight Loss Moves - One Pound Down, 30 to go!

So, now that you've seen the title of this blog, know that I'm not saying I've only lost one pound since I've started taking a bigger interest in my health. In fact, I've lost 19 pounds. I have a long term goal and a short term goal. Having goals is the best way to make things happen. I've always held to that belief and I'm sticking to it.

That being said, are you still binging on Starbucks coffee? Are you still eating everything you know you're not suppose to eat? Don't be discouraged! I can tell you from personal experience that one day it's just going to hit you like a brick and you're going to snap out of being self indulgent. Why? Because you're going to realize that it's just better for you to CONTROL yourself.

I've been struggling for some time with this self indulgent mindset, so trust me. You are not alone! Remember, YOU CAN DO IT!

Making Breakthroughs - Weight Loss Moves

Have you made any breakthroughs in your weight loss? Well, if you said no, before you think of yourself as a failure, I'd like to recommend a very silly movie called The Love Guru. Oh my goodness! It's a rediculous movie, but has some very interesting ideas about how to "distract" yourself when you are really thinking about doing something that makes you feel bad about yourself. You will not need to look at your weight loss as a failure. You won't feel like doing the last thing on earth that you want to do - take discount diet pills. If you get the point of the movie (not a kid movie), you will learn to love yourself regardless of failures, regardless of looks. You will start to understand what it means to find success in the small things you do. You will say a resounding "YES" when you are asked if you've made any breakthroughs wiht your weight loss. I certainly can say YES!

Back on Track - Weight Loss Moves

I've been going back and forth weekend after weekend knowing that taking a break from eating the Fit For Life way will only hinder my progress. Well, this past weekend, I've been right on track. The more I focus, the easier it becomes.

I can tell you that I tend to fall off the beaten path when I haven't prepared my kitchen to work for me. For example, sometimes I run out of salad. When I'm hungry and there's no veggies, what happens? I go for the other stuff I do have. I go for the stuff I have for my son's school bag and my husband's snack bag. My suggestion then is to make sure you are always prepared to eat right. Have all the items you need in your refrigerator so that you don't start going off like one of those crazy vacuum cleaners that suck up everything it sees.

So, that's my weight loss minute for you. Remember, as is the case with many things in life, preparation is the key!

Weight Loss Moves - Today is a Good Day!

I can say that 90% of what I achieved today for my health was good for me. I ate well, I planned to eat well and I accomplished what I set out to do. I even exercised. I say 90%, because I can always do better. Enough about me though!

I've decided to dedicate a little bit of this post to something other than weight loss because those people in Galveston, Texas are facing imminent destruction. CNN reports are saying that if you stay, you die. This reminds me of Katrina. Although the storm is not as intense, the lay of the land seems to be relatively more vulnerable since there is no sea wall.

What would you do if you found yourself facing the reality that you might not have a home this weekend due to some natural disaster? Would you already be looking for a a place to live and even a job somewhere else? Maybe you would not have this planned out that far in advance. Afterall, maybe your home would survive, but what if it doesn't. Planning is key to lowering anxiety about huge changes in circumstances like these. You might look for a new living someplace not so vulnerable.

I have learned that everywhere you live, you have weather issues to deal with, from the north to the south, but if I were to move again, I'd definitely prefer the north to facing a hurricane year after year. Wouldn't you? In fact, I've already thought it through. I'd go to Boston or maybe back to Connecticut. I'd get on one of those jobsites and look for , perhaps looking at one of those online job websites, for example looking for Boston jobs? I know it's a difficult thing to wrap one's mind around when facing the end of life as one knows it. Even so. It bears thinking about.

May God be with all of those facing hurricane Ike and those who lived through it already.

Cravings on Energy Pills - Stop the Madness!

To give you an update, I haven't exactly been living by the principles of the Fit For Life concept this past few days. In fact, I think I'm reverting to my old habits which I'm not too happy about. The reason...I don't know why, but my craving for chocolate over the last week seems to have doubled in size and my craving for chicken too. It's almost like my craving button has taken some energy pills or something.

I have read that when you are having a craving, it means that you are lacking some type of nutrient or nutrients that the craved for food can give you. The problem is that after I eat, I'm still unsatisfied.

I don't really feel deprived when I stay on fruits, vegetables and the like. I just don't seem to be able to control the craving. It's an addiction to be sure to want chocolate as much as I do. The great thing is that I haven't gained any weight. The problem is that I'm stuck. It's not because of plateauing either. I actually know why I'm stuck. I guess there's consolation in that.

Feeling Great and Losing Weight

I was surfing online today and came across these really nice Schlage door products. What do they have to do with losing weight? Absolutely nothing. However, they are security products and although they shouldn't make me think of the idea of sexy, they do. They do to a door what my new way of eating is doing to me.

I'm so happy to say that I've been losing weight. I look in the mirror and I'm starting to see that person I use to be. I feel sexy again and feel the confidence to carry myself like if I look really sexy. It feels like it has been so long since this feeling has been in me. It's a shame. I could've felt like this some time ago. I just never new what to eat and when to eat it. Now I Know!!! I'm so grateful for the book my mom introduced me to a few months back. I wish I had known about it two years ago, let alone two months ago.

O.K. so how are you doing? 160s here I come!

Continuously Making Strides - Weight Loss.

It's been a few days since the family has gone home and things have been good. I haven't gotten into the salad swing as much as I'd like, but I'm still keeping with the principles of proper food combining. I can see myself one day back to the weight I'd like to be and being able to maintain that weight just by keeping my meats from my starches and by eating lots of "live" foods (fruits, veggies and nuts).

When that time comes, I will be celebrating with a big bang. I've been walking more too, which I'm sure is a big help. Today I actually saw 171 on the scale. That's a big jump in the right direction. I keep saying I can't wait until I see the 160s, but now I can start looking forward to seeing the 150s. Woohoooo!!! Home theater lighting get ready, because my skinny self is coming out of the closet and into the world all over again.

Now don't start thinking I'm vain or conceited. I, like you, have had to struggle for a long time with my weight. Now that the secret of proper food combining has been revealed to me, I'm just majorly impressed with the results. I can't help myself. Another awesome suggestion that I've been following is eating strictly fruits all morning long. Lunch time for me is usually after 12:00 pm. My goal every morning has been to get to 12:00 so that I can have some BREAD! I love bread.

Anyway, that's the news from this front. How's it going for you.
