Family Gone - Weight Too!

My family has now left the building and my weight gain has not been affected overmuch. I put on two pounds which over the past day, I have quickly lost now that I am back to a more regular routine of eating according to the "Fit for Life" plan. I'm very excited to see myself bouncing back so quickly and also to see that I didn't put on too much weight.

I wasn't even too ashamed of putting on one of my swimsuits while the family was here. I went in the pool at the place they were staying at and even exercised. It was delicious. Well, I just wanted to give you an update. I'm back to 172 and can't wait to see the 160s. Maybe by next week I'll get there. We'll see.

Weight Loss Moves - I Can't Believe It

As I stated in a previous post, family is visiting again and boy has it been hard to make sure I eat "right." However, I can honestly say that apart from yesterday, I've been doing rather well. I remember that I can only eat meat once a day or not at all. I still continue to choose lots of fruits and vegetables and even make sure I only eat fruit in the morning. Overall, I'm rather proud of myself. I haven't gained any weight...WOOHOOO!!!! I haven't lost weight either, but considering, as I said, I'm good.

Apart from that, something I've had on my mind lately, now that I have a HD Flat Screen TV is these HDMI cables. I recently got into a new contract for satellite tv. This guy comes to install the satellite system and then proceeds to tell us that he has a great HDMI cable in the car that will make our HD screen capability even more intense. Now, I'm not really sure that we needed all this HD TV stuff, but knowing husband is loving it, I'm pretty happy. However, I do draw the line at getting a $35 cable when the satellite system already comes with an HD cable thingy. It's just not going to happen.

Anyway, that's what's been happening over here. What's up on your end.

Family is Visitng Again :-)

Well, family is visiting again and has been this past week. Tomorrow is Thursday, so I have officially been with them for six days. The best thing I can report is that I haven't gained any weight. I can also report that I'm feeling pretty strong about my food decisions. I have been eating chocolate and have had the occasional "wrong" combination of foods, but for the most part, things are awesome in the way of my new eating lifestyle.

Now all I have to do is remember to get all my bills paid while they're here, don't spend more than I can afford and get together my auto insurance quote online. I'm not intending on changing insurance or anything, but it's just something else to do. Nahhh, I'm exaggerating. I'm just pointing out that I've been pretty scattered this past week and haven't really focussed on much except making sure my family is having a good time.

When they go back home, I'll be starting a regular exercise routine. My son is back in school, so I'll be walking to pick him up. I'm actually pretty excited about that. I hope I can stick with it.

Weight Loss Moves - Moving Right Along!

One thing is certain, I needed a change. I was almost 190 when I started this blog and was feeling like crap. I was tired all of the time, dark circles under my eyes and felt like the blog when I moved. I also felt unattractive and depressed and felt inwardly unimportant. That, I tell you, is no way to live. Do you know these feelings?

If so, you deserve some personalized gifts! For example, what can you do for yourself that would make you feel better? Sometimes, after a few days of "being good" about what you eat, you feel you need a reward. Then you go and sabotage all of those "being good" days by eating whatever you want for several days in a row. It can turn into a vicious cycle to use a cliche.

What you need to do is reward yourself with something that will not sabotage all of those good days. Perhaps you can go to your favorite place, the one that makes you feel at peace, maybe the beach or the theater. Instead of rewarding yourself with food, do something really good for yourself. Maybe you have been wanting that red scarf you saw the other day at one of those department stores or boutiques. Well, go get it. Do something for you!

I am a chocaholic, so my reward is always related to chocolate. If I can make it through the day eating the way I had planned when I woke up, then I give myself two dove chocolate pieces at night before bed. It works. It's a sufficient enough reward to keep me motivated. If I don't honor my eating plan, then I don't get the chocolates at night. It's that simple. Find a reward that will really motivate you to stay on track. You can do it!

Today I clocked in at 172 pounds and I'm ecstatic. I can't wait to see the 160s again. It's been over 2 years since that number was on my scale. I'm almost there and I'm willing to get there slowly and the most healthy way possible. Quick diets just as quickly can fail a person in the long run. "Slow and steady wins the race" is a famous quote written by Aesop, a Greek slave & fable author (620 BC - 560 BC) in The Hare and the Tortoise. Hasn't this statement proven to be true time and time again. I'll get to my weight loss goal and so will you!

Weight Loss - Eat Less Meat in Your Diet.

There are some things you should consider when considering a "Fit for Life" diet. I'll just discuss a few. One thing is that if you're not committed to eating lots of fruits and vegetables, then this lifestyle is not for you. In fact, that's another thing to consider. I have never eaten so little meat in my whole life. I don't think I even realized I was eating so much meat until I stopped doing it.

I have always been a big chicken/fish eater, but it's not something I miss. I eat some type of meat every evening with my dinner, mostly chicken and white fish, but sometimes shrimp since I absolutely love it.

I understand that dinner time is the most appropriate time for eating any kind of meat since it takes the longest to process in your system. Don't get me wrong, if you decide to eat meat at lunch time, say you go to McDonald's and get a chicken salad, then go ahead and do that. Just remember not to eat any more meat that day.

Trust me, your body will do fine without all of that dead food. You need to continue feeding your system with live foods (fruits and veggies). You will see the difference almost right away and you will feel the difference too.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about, get the book. You must be committed. If you are, then you won't look back. By the way, anyone know where I could get some good, not too expensive, outdoor furniture covers? My mom, being the creative person that she is, made her own. I'm not that domesticated yet.

Weight Loss - Moving Right Along!

It's been a few days since my last post and I've been going strong. I had a few set backs, including todays really tasty slice of carrot cake, but overall, since this lifestyle allows for stuff like that, I'm doing really well. I need to exercise a little more, but have been putting forth a big effort. I've been thinking of filling my iPod with lots of music so I could walk to it while doing my thing on my treadmill. I've had it (the treadmill and the iPod) for a while, but haven't really used it. My intention was to use it while walking out of the house, but that just hasn't happened. Either way, I'll be using it, don't worry about that. I haven't even gotten into the Bluetooth stereo headsets yet. I don't think I'm going there.

Talking about treadmills, did you hear about Isaac Hayes death? He was found near his treadmill while it was still on. That is so sad! MAN! I read about Bernie Mac this morning too. It's crazy! Well, my prayers are with their family.

Weight Loss Moves - Breaking the Monotony

Over the last few weeks I've been eating very good foods -- lots of fruits and vegetables. At night, I've been having lots of chopped salads and have been learning how to enjoy vegetables that I would never eat unless they were steamed or cooked well and had lots of butter on them. Now I've decided that I need to break the monotony a little, so I'm at a family party and guess what I'm eating. Everything!

I know I'm going to pay tomorrow, but the good thing is that I'm just going to go right back to the way I'm suppose to be eating. It's great to feel free to have a meal with the family and know that I'm going to go back and that eating healthy isn't as difficult as it use to be. I've lost weight, but I won't say how much until next Friday. My husband's family will be coming in about two weeks, so I'm working hard to meet my goal.

Speaking of which, I bought this really great indoor lighting since I'm working on the look of my living room, but the ceiling fan light won't work. The wiring won't connect right. I've played with it and my husband has too. I'm just going to have hire an electrician or maybe I'll play with it a little more. I don't know.

So, we'll see what tomorrow brings. I'll let you know how getting back to the grind works.
